Are Terrell Owens and Tim Tebow In For NFL Reality Checks?
One can't find a job while the other desperately clings to his. Nobody ever said the NFL was a fair league; but for Terrell Owens and Tim Tebow, it might sit on the cusp of taking away the job they love so much. Is there still hope for either of them?
Tebow standing on thin ice if Denver Broncos lose to Pittsburgh Steelers
One would think job security isn't an issue for a young quarterback who saved his team's season and got them in the playoffs. Sadly that is the case for Tebow with the Denver Broncos. Perhaps no quarterback has received more scrutiny or media attention than him simply because he doesn't play quarterback the way professionals do. Either way, if not for a series of remarkable comebacks Tebow engineered, Denver would have entered the running for the NFL top draft pick. Instead, the team prepares for its first playoff game in six years. It's at Mile High stadium against the banged up Pittsburgh Steelers. They say that winning cures all in sports; and that's never truer for Tim Tebow. Experts believe that if he doesn't become more aggressive, the Broncos will lose and later go into the upcoming draft searching for a new quarterback. Considering what the young man has done under the circumstances, he deserves far better than an ultimatum of that sort.
Owens can relate to Tebow about how hard it is to find and hold a job
Anybody who knows pro football has heard of the polarizing wide receiver Terrell Owens. In a volatile career spanning five teams, T.O. has put together a Hall of Fame bid on the stat sheets but also a reputation for ruining every team he leaves. His media exploits are all over the map and a recent bout of paternity suits has drained his once swollen bank accounts. Year by year the saga of Owens has gotten away from football and focused more on tabloid controversy. Perhaps that explains why a Los Angeles judge offered a frank opinion that his career is likely over. The six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver hasn't gotten a single offer from an NFL team all season, forcing him to consider settling for an Arena League contract. At age 38, T.O. might not have time to succeed in Arena Football and make it back to the NFL. That's why his plight falls in line with Tebow. Both believe they can play, but everyone else thinks they can't.
Faith and support from friends like Lindsey Vonn can help Tebow save his job
The task ahead for Tim Tebow in an unenviable one. He must overcome a veteran playoff contender in the Pittsburgh Steelers who sport the top defense in football with an offense that rarely scores more than 17 points a game. Playing quarterback in Denver, under the shadow of Hall of Fame legend John Elway, is a task only great men can challenge. It's also shows how much Tebow has faith in his Christian upbringing as well as a newfound circle of friends including Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn to help him. It's not too late for Tim to recapture some of that old magic he used to win two Heisman trophies and two national titles in Florida. Terrell Owens might not know the young quarterback personally, but he will probably be watching the game, quietly wishing he at least had a chance to prove himself like Tebow does.
Such is the crazy world called life in the NFL.
