Jeremy Lin will join the 2012 NBA All-Star weekend after all. It had seemed like Lin, the New York Knicks point guard, wouldn't have a chance to showcase his talents. According to ESPN though, Lin is getting invited to the event to take part in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. He will assist teammate Iman Shumpert in the contest, possibly attracting even more attention. Lin will also become a part of the Haier Shooting Stars competition on All-Star Saturday night, giving him a chance to show off his shooting skills in front of the entire world. Over the past two weeks he has been putting on a show for Knicks fans, helping the team to seven straight victories in a resurgence for the franchise. His rise to stardom has come very quickly, making some NBA fans wonder why he isn't getting an invite to the Rising Stars Game during All-Star weekend. The other players participating in the dunk contest against Shumpert and Lin are Houston Rockets forward Chase Budinger, Indiana Pacers guard Paul George and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Derrick Williams. Most fans remember how Blake Griffin won the competition in 2011 by jumping over the hood of a KIA while teammate Baron Davis tossed a basketball up through the sun roof. Do you think that the addition of Jeremy Lin will help gain Shumpert votes? Does this make it more likely that you will watch the 2012 Slam Dunk Contest or Shooting Stars competition? Read more
