MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY AT MILLER PARK SCHEDULED FOR JULY 26
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers will host Military Appreciation Day on Thursday, July 26 at Miller Park as the team faces the Washington Nationals.
To mark the occasion, the Brewers provided 5,000 tickets to the USO of Wisconsin, which were then distributed to recent returnees from active duty and their families to attend the game. Prior to the game, a mass induction ceremony will take place on the field. Military parties interested in taking part in Military Appreciation Day should contact the USO of Wisconsin.
Additionally, half of the proceeds from the Brewers Community Foundation 50/50 Raffle for the series against the Washington Nationals (July 26-29) will be directed towards Fisher House Wisconsin. BCF will also be fundraising for Fisher House Wisconsin for the 2012 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk, which is scheduled for Saturday, July 28, through an online fundraising tool at www.brewers.com/5kfundraising. Several Brewers players, including Zack Greinke, Jonathan Lucroy and George Kottaras, have also contributed money to BCF to be directed to Fisher House Wisconsin.
All three of the Brewers Team Stores will grant military personnel a 30% discount on regular priced merchandise (except for game-used items) on Military Appreciation Day. The first 15,000 fans 21-and-older to enter the ballpark will also receive a camouflage Brewers cap, compliments of Miller High Life.
For each Sunday home game in 2012, the Brewers offer two FREE Terrace Level tickets to active and retired military personnel. The offer applies to all branches of the military service. Active and retired military personnel must present valid military identification which entitles them to two FREE Terrace Level tickets redeemable at windows 7-12 at Miller Park on the day of game only. This offer is based on ticket availability.

Fisher House provides a "home away from home" for military and veterans' families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. Currently, veterans from 23 different states of all generations are traveling to the Milwaukee VA medical center for treatment at the Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) center, while 8,000 Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans are receiving treatment here in Milwaukee for their wounds or injuries. Veterans and their families living beyond 50-miles from the Milwaukee VA hospital are eligible to stay for free at the Fisher House if they need to overnight. The Fisher House program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and ensures that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Due to this need, the future Milwaukee home will be one of the largest built in the United States. The anticipated ground breaking for Fisher House Wisconsin is scheduled for 2013.
